Driving While Intoxicated (DWI)
The Driving While Intoxicated Program (DWI) is a 12-hour program (four separate 3-hour classes) approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services and authorized under TEX CODE of CRIM PROC. art 4212. Classes must be taken in correct sequence (Session 1, Session 2, etc.). An exit interview is required to receive a Certificate of Completion.
This standardized program is 12 hours in length and is designed to help DWI offenders increase their knowledge about alcohol and drugs as these substances relate to driving skills, to identify their own individual drinking/drug use and driving patterns, and to assist them in developing plans which will reduce the probability of future DWI behavior.
Specific course topics include alcohol/drug and traffic safety problems, Texas laws relating to DWI, effects of alcohol/drugs on humans, alcohol/drugs and driving task abilities, chemical dependency, symptoms of dependency, sources of assistance, costs of DWI, and decision-making.
The Program is designed to…
- Present information on the effects of alcohol and other drugs on driving skills;
- Help participants identify their own individual drinking or drugged driving patterns; and
- Assist participants in developing a plan to reduce the probability that they will be involved in future DWI behavior.
YOU MUST REGISTER IN PERSON. Registration is on a first come first-served basis. Classes fill up quickly the sooner you come, the more likely you will get into the class of your choice.

- Driver’s License
- Social Security Card
- Judge’s Name and
- Payment in full
Persons under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian at registration and have written permission from the legal guardian
Cost: $125 (effective May 15, 2021)
Drug Offender Education Program (DOEP)
The Texas Drug Offender Education Program (DOEP) is a 15-hour program (five separate 3-hour classes) approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services and authorized under Texas Transportation code (TRC521.371-377) Classes must be taken in correct sequence (Session 1, Session 2, etc.). An exit interview is required to receive a Certificate of Completion.
This standardized program is 15 hours in length and is designed to educate Drug offenders on the dangers of drug use/abuse and associated illegal activities. The class also provides information on the effects of drug use/abuse on families, social, economic and community life. The class also assists participants in developing a plan for positive lifestyle change to reduce chances of being involved in future drug use and related illegal behaviors. Specific course topics include drug laws, history of drug use, addiction as a brain disease, values, attitudes and behavior, stages of change and recovery.
The Program is designed to…
- address the personal and public costs of substance abuse and is intended to reduce the risk that persons completing the course will again become involved in illegal drug use and related behaviors;
- Help participants identify their own individual pattern of drug use; and
- Assist participants in developing a plan to reduce the probability that they will be involved in future drug related behavior.

Choices Not Chances (CNC)
CNC is an 8-hour program (two 4-hour classes) developed to educate those adults 18 and up who have received a citation for Public Intoxication or some other alcohol/drug related offense that does not require enrollment in a state-sponsored MIP, DWI, DOEP or Advanced DWI course. Classes must be taken in the correct sequence (class 1, class 2 within the same session). Topics include substance abuse history, current drug trends, and information on how drugs affect the body.
The Program is designed to…
- Present information on social values, media influence, current laws, addiction of the brain, drug information, family dynamics, stress & coping skills, decision making, and community resources.
- Educate participants on the physical and mental effects of alcohol & drug use on the body plus its impact on society. Class will also discuss addiction signs & symptoms and where to go for help.
Choices Not Chances Cost: $50
You must register in person and payment is due at time of registration. Cash, credit cards and money orders are accepted. Registration is on a first come first-served basis. Classes fill up quickly, so the sooner you come, the more likely you will get the class of your choice.
Check in time for class is 6:00pm. DO NOT BE LATE. Class starts promptly at 6:00pm. Late arrivals will not be admitted to class and will forfeit their registration fee. No Exceptions.

Sobering Facts
Sobering Facts is a 2-hour class developed to educate those youth 17. The class examines consequences of use, abuse and addiction, dangers of tobacco use, e-cigarette use, dangers of marijuana use, alcohol and drug myths, influences of the media, and how to make good decisions.
Sobering Facts is appropriate for youth referred from probation, judges, or the Department of Family and Protective Services. This class provides the most current educational information on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
Sobering Fact Cost: FREE
Registration is on a first come, first-served basis. Registration must be completed no later than the day before the class, as space allows.
Check in time for class is 4:00pm. DO NOT BE LATE. Class starts promptly at 4:00pm. Late arrivals will not be admitted to class. No Exceptions.
